1977 Boosey and Hawkes 921 Sovereign Cornet - $1,300.00

The Sovereign is a well known and respected line of instruments. Professionals are still playing these today! This Sovereign was made by Boosey and Hawkes before they became Besson. Boosey merged with Hawkes to create Boosey and Hawkes, they then became Besson, and they are still making instruments under the Besson name but owned by B&S in Germany. This is the more desirable large bore 921 Sovereign with a bore of .466”.

This cornet is made in England and is a beautiful instrument. It has the classic British cornet sound. It has the globe “round stamp” and is quite favoured with cornet players around the world. This cornet was designed in conjunction with Thomas Wilson, the principal cornet player in the Scots Guards at the time.

The instrument is in great condition, the valves move flawlessly, and the triggers are so easy to use! The lacquer is in pretty good shape, with a couple spots missing here and there. The pinky ring was removed at some point for better resonance. There is a little bit of acid bleed on the bell rim.

The included case is an older utility case. It isn’t pretty, but it works! The case has space for lots of accessories, music, and 2 mouthpieces. Mouthpiece not included in the sale.
